How does a group piano lesson work?

No matter how much time a beginner spends with a teacher,  students can only learn so much in a week – They need time to practice new musical ideas. Group lessons take the pressure off young students and make the process more enjoyable.

As a first priority, we teach students to read music so they can practice independently – and this is where the magic happens! Under our guidance, students teach themselves to play the piano.

As long as the pieces are fun, students become active and engaged learners. This allows a teacher to move around the room and help students work at their own pace.

We don't have a keyboard/piano at home - does this matter?

While having an instrument at home does make a different to progress we appreciate there will be some hesitancy while you try to gauge your child’s level of interest and commitment. There are piano apps for tablets that we can recommend.

We also have a rent-to-own keyboard deal where we can help you pay down a keyboard over successive schools terms (or simply offer you a really good price on a brand new keyboard)

Meet the Tutors

Jack England – Mondays

Jack joined our teaching team in 2022 and has quickly made a name for himself as a focussed and diligent teacher. He enjoys helping beginners build their confidence and also has a number of students taking graded exams this year. Jack recently finished his Bachelor of Music where he studied composition, film scoring, and classical piano performance. He also teaches at EBIS and Seatoun School.

Danielle van der Zwaag – Thursdays

From a very young age, Danielle has had a desire to teach music and work with youngsters; Dynamite Music has provided a wonderful platform to combine both of these passions. She has more than 10 years experience teaching piano in a variety of settings and has a desire to make her lessons accessible to all abilities.

In addition to being a piano teacher, Danielle enjoys playing the pipe organ.

I’ve been part of the Dynamite Team since 2018. During that time I’ve enjoyed seeing the spark of delight on each student’s face when they learn to read music for the first time. My approach incorporates useful tools from a range of methods to ensure students make great progress at every stage.
